Describing a Process 2

In today’s lesson we will continue exploring other processes focusing on particular on how rain forms.

Lets watch a short video describing how rain forms. After the video we will discuss what we have seen and try to discuss the process of rain formation

As a class we will now discuss what we have seen

Lets have a look at a process diagram describing how rain forms. What are the different stages and where does the process begin

Suitable Structure: 

Paragraph 1 (Introduction) 

  • Introduce the diagram
  • Mention the main steps
  • Thesis statement (What are you going to do)

Paragraph 2 (Body) 

  • Describe the process
  • Use Sequence Words
  • Use the Passive tense

Paragraph 3 (Conclusion) 

  • Concluding statement
  • Mention the first and last cycle
  • Use a sentence like this:  To conclude we can see that the water cycle consists of ________ steps starting with ______________________ and ending with___________________

Now that you have reviewed through the structure use the provided lined paper to write a suitable response describing how rain forms

Post Writing: 

After completing your writing use the following check list to check your work

  1. Do you have three paragraphs?- Introduction / Body / Conclusion
  2. Have you paraphrased the question in your introduction
  3. Do you mention what the diagram shows you in your introduction?
  4. Do you talk about how many steps there are in your introduction?
  5. Do you have a thesis statement (telling the reader what you will do) in your introduction?
  6. Does your body paragraph mention all the main steps?
  7. Does your body paragraph have sequence words?
  8. Are you using the passive tense in your body paragraph?
  9. In your conclusion do you have a concluding phrase (to sum up, to conclude)
  10. End your conclusion with a sentence like this: To conclude we can see that the water cycle consists of ________ steps starting with ______________________ and ending with___________________
