Now that you have listened to a listening about inventions lets think about some inventions that we know about.  In groups think about an invention and create a presentation to covers the following questions:

  1. What is the best invention?
  2. Why do you think it is the best invention?
  3. What can it do? Does it help people?
  4. What could you do to improve this invention?

Present your presentation to the class, Make sure that everyone in your group is involved.


Listening 2 Unit 7

In today’s lesson, we are going to continue looking at different sports.

Listening 1 Unit 7

In today’s lesson, we are going to be looking at how technology has impacted sports.

Can you think of any sports where you need to wear special clothing or use special equipment? Share your ideas in the link below:

Because the listening is about taekwondo work in groups and carry out a WebQuest about taekwondo. Create a presentation and then present it to the class your presentation should cover the following areas:

  • What is Taekwondo?
  • When did it start?
  • Do you have to wear special clothing or use special equipment?
  • Would you like to try this sport?


Before listening you should think about who is talking and why. Sometimes people are “biased”: they will have a special reason to agree or disagree with something. For example, a jockey will say horse racing is the most interesting sport but a footballer will choose football. So if you think about the person, this can give you information about what they might think before they speak. You can then listen for words that help you understand their opinions.

Today we will be listening to a panel discussion about taekwando. Before we listen to the discussion lets watch a short video about the history of Taekwando

Post-Listening Exercise 

During the listening we heard about how technology is being used in the sport of Taekwando. In this activity we are going to carry out some research to see how technology is being used.

Using ( create a interactive picture toking at how technology is being used in that sport. Your interactive picture must answer the following questions:

  1. How and in what way is used technology being used>
  2. Has it improved the sport?
  3. What are the advantages of of using this technology?

When creating your interactive picture make sure that you are as creative as possible and you can include text, videos and pictures.
