Lets start by looking at some vocabulary that can be used to describe someone:

Divide the adjective into positive adjectives and negative adjectives

Critical thinking (Preparation for writing assignment)

Look at the table below copy it into a word processing app like pages or word. Write the names of three people that you admire in each category

Pre-Writing Task 

Using one person from the list that you created previously of people you admire use  word or pages to write a list of reasons why you admire that person. Share your ideas with the rest of the class.

Writing Task : 

Write a 150 word essay describing a person that you admire . Giving reason why you admire this person person and what this person has done.. Remember that your essay should include a body and a conclusion.

Please use the provided line paper and submit your essay to me by the end of the period.

Using an app of your choice work independently to create a poster about a famous person from the UAE. Your poster must cover the following points:

  • Who is the person?
  • Where was born?
  • How old is the person
  • Why is this person famous?
  • What has this person done to help society?

Remember to be creative as possible and to include photographs so that your poster can be interesting. This task will be graded and your expected to submit your work as a PDF at the end of the period.

STEAM Project Term 3

In term 3 the grade 9 STEAM is based around a Pneumatic Crane. In the English component of the project, you will need to create a catalogue that will highlight the features of your crane. In order to create this brochure, I will suggest that e either utilize pages or http://www.smore.com.

Your brochure should include the following:

  1. A brief description of your pneumatic crane: How does it work?  What is it?  Why is it special?
  2. A list of things that it can do?
  3. Technical details and components? This can be details regarding how tall it is? What are the different parts made of?
  4. A labelled picture of the crane

Before we start planning out our brochure lets spend some time using the internet to research the above questions. Use the internet and pages to do this.
